The value of a picture

Yesterday, I opened the New York Times and grabbed the goodies- those parts of the paper that make reading the paper on Sundays so enjoyable- and saw the cover of the Times Magazine. There, on the cover of the fourth annual food and drink issue, was a photo illustration by Gail Albert Halaban for the New York Times that requires no more narration than what the artist chose to zero in on: a family together around a table providing the only color in an otherwise colorless urban world. So much more than a thousand words… I’ll have a TON more to say about this issue as it was dense with interesting information, but for now, I’ll just let the art speak for itself.
