As those already in the know already know, this February sees the launching of Oscar de la Renta’s new home-furnishings line inspired by his native Dominican Republic. This photo accompanied the trumpet fanfare in December’s Architectural Digest-
SIDEBAR: Who said carnations are nothing but “filler flowers”? This gorgeous centerpiece is a vibrant mix of reds and pinks, so much more interesting than just one shade!
-but look closer… That’s right, while the flowers are beautiful, it’s the bowl that takes this to a new level. A key piece in this new collection concieved in tandem with decorator Miles Redd, who serves as creative director of De la Renta’s home-furnishings line, is the Kent bowl, which is a great take on the classic Revere bowl. Mr. De la Renta’s is fashioned from teakwood and silver plate, and as he says in the article, “…set the table and make it beautiful, but then don’t pay any more attention to it” this bowl would definitely fit that bill. Either filled with flowers as seen here, or fruit of the season, this bowl would make any table “beautiful”.
The Kent bowl comes in serving and individual sizes and will be available at Oscar de la Renta boutiques and Bloomingdale’s this February.
